BMW VANOS System
BMW variable timing system also known as VANOS system was first introduced in early series cars. It was to improve fuel economy while delivering power on demand. Sometimes these systems develop problems can only be diagnosed and repaired by BMW specialist because they do require special tools and knowledge to carry out repairs.
Please make sure that all repairs are done by a shop that does these kinds of repairs because once damaged is beyond repair entire engine may have to replaced in some cases. We have done a lot of repairs on M52, M54, M62, M73, N47, N52, N54, N55, N20, N62, N73, S64, S65 engines, these are some examples, we have special tools all those engines and have done extensive engine related work and have know how to diagnose and repair accurately.
Some common problems when there is a VANOS issue:
- Loud ticking sound when cold starting car in the morning
- CAR no start
- Codes related to VANOS System
- Camshaft sensor replaced but problem still exists
- Car idles very badly
- Car lags in rapid acceleration / loss of power
- Significant gas loss / low km from full tank
